Description

Our Professional Flatbed Drivers drive tractor-trailers to pick up and deliver products. Northeast regional, long-haul, and other route options are negotiable! Professional Flatbed Driver responsibilities include hauling lumber, logs, and other loads typically primarily in the northeast. General CDL A experience is required. Our home base is Chester, ME, but our drivers reside along our driving routes. Some overnights will be required. The choice of hourly or percentage pay is negotiable and full Treeline benefits apply!

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to throw straps over the load so as not to cause personal injury. • Ability to tarp large percentage of loads. • Ability to handle log stakes. • Ability to put on and take off tire chains when needed in a safe manner. • Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly when circumstances and plans change. • Ability to plan ahead, request parts needed in the near future and assist with scheduling conflicts. • Ability to pass Federal DOT drug screen and physical. • Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and meet company requirements. • Ability to take orders, instructions, and guidance from management and supervisors. • Ability to deal with other employees in a diplomatic manner in a variety of stressful situations.

Education, Certificates:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. • Valid DOT Health Card. • Maintain driving record in accordance with Fed. and State Motor Carrier and Company requirements.

Physical Demands:

• Approximately 75% of the workday is spent driving. • Throwing straps and pulling straps several times throughout the day. • Ability to lift and handle tarps weighing up to 100 lbs. • Ability to lift and handle log stakes weighing 40 lbs. • Ability to handle tire chains weighing 50 lbs. • Ability to climb ladders and stairs on trailer and tractor and at loading and unloading facilities. • Ability to maintain safe and efficient control of the vehicle at all times. • Reach at or above shoulder height frequently. • Demonstrate visual and auditory acuity in order to safely operate the vehicle. • Minimal color discrimination and depth perception. • Exposure to periodic moderate to fairly loud noise, below 85db. • Climbing in and out of the vehicle and on and off the trailer and loads frequently. • The ability to work in all weather conditions. • The ability to work in all temperatures. • Wearing OSHA-required PPE.
